Simon Massey
Simon has been the Head of Engagement & Learning at Children in Scotland since September 2015 when he moved up to Edinburgh. He manages the Communications Team, Learning & Events Team and the Membership Service as well as being part of the Leadership Team.
In addition to working at Children in Scotland, Simon has 30 years' experience of working in social care settings across the UK in various roles including volunteer, frontline practitioner, assessor, manager and consultant.
Simon is a qualified social worker and has undertaken extensive child protection and post-abuse therapeutic social work as well as work in residential childcare settings. He is also a qualified practice teacher with experience of the social work education field and local authority workforce development.
He is passionate about equality and diversity in all areas of his life. Professional highlights included winning the British LGBT Awards’ Charity of the Year in 2015 for the Safe Network service in England and leading Children in Scotland through LGBT Youth Scotland’s LGBT Charter of Rights accreditation in 2017-18.
